Still Yoga is a direct benefit program for people in our community. Service is in any form, from shoveling walkways and raking leaves to raising money for food, utilities, medical costs, legal fees etc. To participate in Still Yoga all you have to do is some good deed. If you would like to donate time or money to any of our current projects please contact Kathy McNames at Yoga Vermont - kathy@yogavermont.com.
Every act of generosity develops higher qualities and produces considerable change.
Current Projects:
-bringing Simon Ateny's family over from Kakuma, a refugee camp in Kenya
-visits to the local nursing homes for general company or basic yoga techniques
The February 18 class is a benefit for Simon Ateny.
Simon Ateny was married last year. His wife, Atong, and one month old baby are still residing in Kenya at a refugee camp called Kakuma. Simon works at City Market and spent all of his savings to make the trip for the wedding.
Simon is one of the "lost boys" of Sudan. He made the 4 month, 1000 mile walk at the age of ten to Kenya. Sudan has a 22 year old civil war going on and the most displaced citizens in the world. Still Yoga is working to pay legal fees to bring Atong and their baby boy to Vermont. Please help by attending the benefit class on Feb 18th.
