Bethany took her first yoga class in 1999 in her home state of Michigan and hasn't looked backed since. After working as a naturalist and outdoor educator in Tennessee and California, she was first drawn to Burlington for graduate school at the University of Vermont in 2003. Although the magnificent landscape and community of Jackson Hole drew her away for a couple years following the completion of her degree, she is now excited to call Burlington her home once again. Bethany enrolled in Yoga Vermont's 200-hour teacher training course upon her return to the Queen City in 2007 and has found a wonderful community at the studio where she was first introduced to Ashtanga yoga under the instruction of Kathy McNames and Scott York.

Through the yoga classes she teaches, Bethany hopes to instill in her students the importance of honoring their body through movement and breath, and of letting go of expectations by practicing yoga with patience and without judgment. When she is not practicing yoga herself, Bethany can be found teaching students about Vermont's rivers and lakes for her job with UVM Extension, running, skiing, hiking, biking, or just romping about with her dog Finn.
